1mL of PET bottled water – more than 100
million nanoplastics
An international research team, including the Norwegian University of Science and Technology,
recently investigated
bottled water.
They measured the concentration of
nanoplastics in water bottles.
The research team published this research
result in [Journal of Environmental Science and Technology].
The research team purchased and tested PET
bottled water from four companies distributed in Norway.
As a result of filtering and analyzing
bottled water through a fine glass fiber filter membrane,
1 ml of sample contained an average of 166
million nanoplastics.
Nanoplastics are pieces of plastic with a
diameter of less than 1 μm, or 1/1000th of a mL.
An adult who drinks 2 liters of water per
day consumes 120 trillion per year.
The research team explained that a child who drinks 1 liter of water a day
can be considered to ingest 54 trillion
nanoplastics per year.
It is true that life has become richer and
more convenient.
And there is so much information.
This article makes me reflect on what I
need to do for my health and body.
